Tag a Whole Recurring Series at Once

When you add or remove a tag on a recurring activity, you can now apply the change to the whole series. Before, the tag only landed on the activity you edited, so tag filters and tag-based reports missed the rest of the series.

What's fixed​

Tag changes reach the whole series​

  • You choose where the change goes. Adding or removing a manual tag on a recurring activity now opens the scope dialog, even if nothing else changed. Pick This instance only or This and all instances in the series.
  • The whole series is updated, not only future activities. The series option applies the tag change to every instance that is not cancelled, including past, completed, and invoiced ones. Tags don't change prices or dates, so this is safe. Cancelled instances are skipped.
  • Any instance works. You can make the change from the first activity of the series or from any later instance.

Existing tags stay put​

  • Only your change is copied. Tags you added are added and tags you removed are removed. Each instance's other tags are not replaced.
  • Auto tags and client tags are never touched. Tags from tag rules and from the client stay on every instance.

Tag summary before you save​

The Confirm Changes dialog now lists the tags being added and removed, and how many instances will receive the change.

What you need to do​

Nothing changes on its own. If an existing series is missing a tag on some instances, open any instance, add the tag, and choose This and all instances in the series. If the tag is already on the instance you open, remove it and save with the series option, then add it back the same way.
