What Is a Route?
A route is a collection of activities grouped together for a specific date. Each route can be assigned to one or more team members, and FlowForth automatically calculates travel times and distances between activities using real road data.
How Routes Are Used
Daily Planning
Routes connect activities to team members for daily execution:
- Activities are scheduled at Locations
- Routes group activities together for a specific date
- Team members are assigned to routes so they know what to work on
- Travel times between activities are calculated automatically
Route Status
Each route goes through a lifecycle represented by its status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | The route has been created but no team members are assigned yet |
| Assigned | One or more team members have been assigned to the route |
| In Progress | Work on the route has started |
| Completed | All activities on the route have been finished |
| Cancelled | The route was cancelled and will not be worked |
Travel Information
When activities are added to a route, FlowForth calculates:
- Travel time between each consecutive activity (in minutes)
- Travel distance between activities (in kilometers)
- Total travel time and total distance for the entire route
This information helps you plan efficient routes that minimize travel time for your team.
Managing Routes
FlowForth provides several tools for working with routes:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Creating a Route | Create a new route for a specific date |
| The Route Planner Page | Use the dispatch board to plan and manage routes |
| Assigning Activities to Routes | Add activities to routes using drag-and-drop |

Who Can Manage Routes?
Route management requires the Organization Admin role. Regular employees can view routes assigned to them and update activity statuses, but cannot create, edit, or delete routes.
