Weekly Recurring Activities Now Respect the Interval

A weekly recurring activity with days selected now repeats on the interval you chose. "Tuesday, every 4 weeks" now means every fourth Tuesday, not every Tuesday. The recurrence form also shows the next dates before you save.

What's fixed

The interval works together with the selected days

  • Weekly series with days selected follow the interval. Before, as soon as you selected one or more days under Repeat on, the interval was ignored and an activity was created every week. With a start date of Tuesday 22 September, "Tuesday, every 4 weeks" now generates 20 October, 17 November, 15 December, and so on.
  • Multi-day series work the same way. "Tuesday + Friday, every 2 weeks" runs on both days, every other week.
  • Monthly and yearly series no longer drift. A series starting on 31 January now falls on 28 February and returns to 31 March, instead of staying on the 28th from then on.
  • Imported recurring activities follow the same rules as activities created in the app, including the selected days, notes, and the very important flag.

Safer editing

  • The interval must be between 1 and 52. Clearing the field or typing 0 no longer creates a pile of duplicate activities on the same day.
  • Editing an older series fills the year ahead. Changing the recurrence of a series that started months ago now generates activities from tomorrow through the end date, or one year ahead.
  • Completed and in-progress activities are left alone. When a series is regenerated, no duplicate is added on a date that already has a completed, in-progress, or cancelled activity.

What's new

Next dates preview

The recurrence fields now show a short summary, such as "Every 4 weeks on Tue", and the next 5 dates the series will generate. You can see at a glance whether the schedule is right before you save. The interval label now names its unit too (Every … week(s), Every … × 2 weeks), and the recurrence details are fully translated.

What you need to do

Existing series are not corrected automatically. If you have a weekly series with days selected and an interval greater than 1, it probably has an activity every week. To fix it, open the series' first activity, change one recurrence setting and save, then set it back to the value you want and save again. The extra future scheduled activities are removed and the series is regenerated on the correct weeks. Past and completed activities stay as they are.
