Credit Note Details

The credit note detail page lets you view, edit, and manage individual credit notes. What you can do depends on the credit note's status.

Accessing Credit Note Details

You can reach a credit note detail page in two ways:

  • From the invoice detail page — Click on a credit note listed under the invoice.
  • From the Credit Notes list — Navigate to the credit notes section and click on a credit note.

Draft Credit Notes

While a credit note is in Draft status, you can:

  • Edit line items — Add, remove, or modify line items (description, quantity, unit price).
  • Edit VAT settings — Change per-line VAT percentages, exclusions, and tax categories.
  • Edit reason — Update the reason for the credit.
  • Edit notes — Add or change notes.
  • Delete — Permanently remove the draft credit note.

Sending a Credit Note

Click Send to deliver the credit note to the client. See Credit Notes for details on the send process.

Marking as Paid

When a credit note has status Sent, you can mark it as paid once the credit has been applied or settled:

  1. Click the Mark as Paid button on the credit note detail page.
  2. Confirm the action in the dialog.
  3. The status updates to Paid and the payment date is recorded.

Viewing a Sent Credit Note

For sent or paid credit notes, the detail page displays:

  • Credit note number (e.g., CN-00001) and status.
  • Original invoice — Link to the invoiced being credited, with its invoice number.
  • Client name.
  • Reason for the credit.
  • Credit type — Full or partial credit.
  • Line items with descriptions, quantities, prices, and VAT details.
  • VAT breakdown — Grouped by rate and tax category.
  • Subtotal, VAT, and total credit amount.
  • Delivery information — Whether sent via Peppol, email, or both.

Available Actions

  • Download PDF — Download the credit note as a PDF file.
  • Mark as Paid — Mark the credit note as paid (available when status is Sent).
  • Cancel — Cancel the credit note with a reason. Status changes to Cancelled.
